Fort Polk Visitor Center - To allow more flexibility in visitor access, the Fort Polk Visitors Center is now open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is adjacent to the main entrance on Louisiana Avenue.

With 1,200 miles of shoreline, the reservoir is located on the Sabine River between Texas and Louisiana. At 185,000 acres, the lake is the largest man-made body of water in Louisiana and Texas, the largest in the South, and the fifth largest in the United States by surface area.

The reservoir provides unlimited opportunities for recreation throughout the year; USA for swimming, boating, picnicking, fishing, camping, playgrounds and sightseeing. There is a military recreation park.

Cabins and cottages for rent are available year-round. The cozy cabins sleep up to 5 people and feature central air and heat, ceiling fans, full baths and fully equipped kitchens. Towels and sheets are not provided. There are full hookup and primitive recreational vehicle sites, some with water and full hookups.

The marina offers pontoon and bass boats, kayaks, paddle boats and a gas station. Covered recreational vehicle parking is available for private vehicles. A large fishing pier extends further offshore and includes a fish cleaning station for lakeside fishing.
