45 Cal Carbine - The Marline Camp Carbine was introduced in 1985 and enjoyed considerable success until it was discontinued in 1999. Two versions were available: the .45 ACP chambered in 1911 cartridges, and the 9mm version chambered in Smith & Wesson Model 59. Of course, Colt and other manufacturers offered 9mm carbines based on the AR-15 platform.
A few years ago there was a resurgence in the popularity of pistol caliber carbines. The IDPA, ISPC and USPSA have added courses for the pistol caliber carbine class to their official matches.
45 Cal Carbine
Introduced in December 2017, the Ruger PC carbine (pistol caliber) has proven to be one of the most popular.
Reasons A Pistol Caliber Carbine Makes Sense
The receiver is CNC machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum, has an integrated Picatinny rail and a Type III hard anodized finish. Like the Ford Model A, you can have it any color you want, as long as it's black. The camouflage and flat dark ground model shown here are exclusive to the seller, although they are not hard to find.
The 16.12-inch barrel is cold hammer-forged chrome-moly steel with a 1:10 twist. Although the barrel has a thick outline, the five grooves help keep weight down, which means snappy handling. The barrel is threaded for barrel (including silencers). A protective wire cap is also included.
The ring-shaped adjustable rear sight, in combination with the shielded front sight, provides a fast and accurate aiming system.
The synthetic glass-filled nylon material has a protective texture on the pistol grip area and end that provides a secure grip. Strap attachment points are at the rear of the stock and at the front.

The stock is covered with a soft rubber pad and has three 1/2 inch spacers to accommodate different body types, clothing, gear, etc.

The PC carbine is removed for storage or transport by simply locking the magazine, pushing the recessed lever on the end, rotating the subassemblies and separating them.
The PC Carbine uses either Ruger's SR series or Security-9 magazines, although the SR series fires from a notch in the front of the magazine and the Security-9 from the side. intelligent
The Five Best Pistol Caliber Carbines
Taking it a step further, Ruger recognized that the most popular weapon was still the Glock and included a magazine well that would fit Glock magazines. Changing the magnetic wells can be easily done in less than five minutes. Ruger American Pistol magazine wells are available at ShopRuger.com.
Both the magazine release handle and the charging handle are reversible. The carbine comes with a charging handle on the right side, but I switch it to the left side so I can maintain a grip while loading the carbine.
The carbine comes with a manual, a 17-round SR series magazine, hex keys for rear sight adjustment, spacer adjustment and removal of the charging handle and mandatory lock of the rifle
I went into my line with some of the following: SR Series, Security-9, Glock 19 OEM, PMAG 15, and PMAG 17. To further evaluate reliability, I tested several different brands and types of 9mm Luger ammo.

I shot the carbine with fully loaded magazines, mixing different types of bullets between shots to see if anyone preferred a particular type. They didn't.
The carbine will accept (left to right) Ruger SR9, Ruger Security-9, Glock and (not pictured) Ruger American Pistol frames.
Shooting from 25 yards, ripping the center of the B8 repair center was so routine that it became monotonous. I threw some pre-emptied adult drink containers onto the beam and had a lot of fun making them jump into the air only to repeat the process as soon as it landed. Sometimes, okay, twice, I was able to get a second shot before the can fell.
A friend following me, after watching me empty several Ruger magazines, commented that it was too bad the carbine didn't accept frames for his Glock. Wait for my coffee!

After a quick magazine change, I handed him the carbine and he loaded one of his G17 magazines. After shooting the Ruger PC Carbine, and when he finally managed to stop smiling, he commented, "I've got to get one of those!"
If the above isn't enough to make you sit up and take notice, the PC Carbine is a bargain at $649.00 MSRP, and I've seen them on sale for as low as $550. Not all semi-automatic rifles have to be pretty and they don't have to have a price that breaks the bank.
Hi Point demonstrates both concepts with the Hi Point Model 4595 .45 ACP semi-automatic carbine. While you may know Hi Point for their pistols, their carbines are just as noteworthy.
Hi Point makes its .45 carbines easy and comfortable to use. This seven pound carbine has a polymer skeletonized stock with a recoil pad. Plus, it uses the same magazine as Hi-Point's .45 ACP pistol!

But what about the look? Well, the Hi Point carbine has a distinctive and rugged look. Some call it blog (and others ugly). No matter what you call it, you can choose a black, digital desert, forest or pink camo design.
Now let's talk about the features and functionality. The .45 ACP carbine comes with an adjustable front sight and an adjustable rear sight with ghost ring. There are also Weaver-style rails on the top and bottom of the gun for accessories such as a light, red dot, or scope. The bolt on this blowback carbine opens after the magazine is empty.
Because of the simple design, there are fewer things that can go wrong. The Hi Point carbine has a reputation for reliability. It is not uncommon to hear of several hundred rounds going through this gun without stalling, jamming, or malfunctioning. You may also hear stories of old or rusted Hi Point .45 carbines being used without any problems (not that I would recommend that!).
The best part about the Hi Point .45 ACP carbine might be its price. Why pay thousands when you can get a .45 carbine for under $300? But that's not the only thing that goes for this weapon.

The Hi Point carbine is an American made weapon with American components. It's fun to shoot and reliable. Hi Point also offers a great warranty so you can feel confident about your purchase.
Considering its price, you might think that the Hi Point .45 Carbine would suffer in accuracy. And this is where you would be wrong. The .45 ACP can achieve impressive groups at 25, 50 and even 100 yards. Try it yourself if you want to be surprised!
Is the Hi Point .45 Carbine the cutest and ultimate gun? Probably not. But it's a comfortable gun that's easy to use and costs a fraction of the price of most semi-autos. It gets the job done, reliably, accurately, and for years to come.
