Very good knife This A-10 Warthog knife is the best knife ever made. I never thought it would be this big. My friends rave about it. Out of the box it is very sharp. It looks very real and heavy. You should get one. Arguments about weapons systems are circular and hard to win. Discussions are ongoing about close air support, the retirement of the A-10 Thunderbolt II and the entry of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and the relevance of the recent light attack deployment. But one thing that cannot be disputed is the lethality and specs of the A-10's seven-barrel 30mm Gatling gun GAU-8 Avenger.
This video was published on 24 January 2018 by US Air Force Central Command Public Affairs. It is assigned to the 94th Airlift Wing, which, oddly enough, is primarily an airlift wing. The Defense Video Image Distribution System (DVIDS) did not say why the video was released through the airlift wing, but it was likely due to logistics.

Video captured by an unidentified camera shows an Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II striking a Taliban vehicle fleeing the scene of an attack in Kandahar province on January 24, 2018. The insurgents in the vehicle were armed with 12.7mm AK-47s. The MM heavy machine gun that was used in the Afghan invasion some time ago.
Video is perfect for discussing close air support for several reasons. First, it demonstrates the accuracy of the GAU-8 weapon system, at least in this single instance. You can see that two 30mm bullets penetrate the hood of the car, then one penetrates the roof of the driver's compartment and the fourth bullet goes through the roof of the passenger area of the car. Considering the speed of the vehicle, and the A-10 was certainly moving, this is a remarkable degree of accuracy.
Needless to say, a few rounds were fired from the cannon and two separate firings are seen in the video.
The video also suggests an interesting scenario where the A-10 attacks from 5,000 feet or even higher (especially if it needs to stay out of the envelope of anti-aircraft systems like MANPADS), that might be captured by the image. Another plane, not the A-10 Strike. A possible candidate is a remotely piloted aircraft that provides intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and then may also be a target designation for attack aircraft. While we don't know if that was the case with this video, it's a common enough practice to suggest in this case.

While advocates on both sides of the A-10 defense movement are unlikely to be swayed by videos like this, and those videos date back to the A-10's first operational deployment in 1991, they are persuasive.
